Best Friends

There is nothing like best friends, and when I say that I mean best girlfriends! Someone to tell everything to, someone to tell you, you are great even when you are not, and someone you can go anywhere with or do anything and you still have a good time. I have so many wonderful best friends and sisters back home that I have cultivated lasting relationships that I cherish so much. Being up here away from all of them is probably one of the hardest things about living far away. I don't have my best girlfriends!
Sorry this is kind of a pity post but I have been feeling a little down about this lately and wanted to express how much those I miss mean to me. We have lived up here in Calgary for a year now and I don't really have a best friend. I am sure this could be my fault, the fact that I work everyday, or that I am not trying hard enough, but it is getting hard. I feel like I just want to pick someone and tell them they have to be my best friend up here because I need one. I have made some really great friends but it seems everytime I do they move away! Bummer city.
Hank keeps telling me that friendships like that take time and I agree they do, but I also have to say that some friendships just click and I am hoping to find that!
Anyhoo I guess I just wanted to say how much I think good girlfriends are a blesssing in life and I am grateful for each and everyone that I have even if they live far away they are still there for me.

Oh and P.S. if you live in Calgary and want to be my best friend I am in! ha ha

P.P.S. sorry for the lack of pictures lately in my posts. It could be that I am too lazy to take pictures or it could be the fact that I am 20 weeks prego (half-way yeah) and still in the awkward stage and don't feel much like taking pics of myself. Take your pick!

Fainting Update

So my doctor got my blood results back and I guess it turns out that I am severely enemic. So in addition to the pre-natal vitamins I will be going on additional dosages of iron. I have heard iron pills can be hard on the stomach and I already have serious stomach issues, but I guess it will be worth it to avoid scary situations like yesterday!

Another One Bites the Dust.....

That another one would be me!!!
Post Disclaimer: Before you panic when you are reading this story, me and the baby are just fine, just slightly embarrassed and traumatized! Continue on to read a good story.

Ok so there I was going to the bank to deposit my paycheck at 10:30a.m. this morning. I'm standing in line minding my own business, I knew I was a little hungry but thought I could get some food when I got to work after this little stop. However, as I waited and waited I began to feel a little faint, I started to get a little sweaty and wanted to sit down but I was next up to the teller. I made it to the teller, gave him my checks. About that time my vision started to tunnel. I knew I should sit down but I figured I could only be another minute or so, well I was wrong!!! The next thing I knew I was being picked up off the floor by some freaking out bank employees. By the time I was sitting down in a chair and had some water they told me an ambulance was on its way. I insisted that I was fine, I was pregnant and just needed to get some food. I told them I was embarrassed and just would go to work, they weren't really liking that.
The ambulance showed up and after I persisted I was good they took me in the ambulance to check me out. (Just to sit in the ambulance not go anywhere so I don't go in to debt) They took some blood and my heart rate and my information and all that fun stuff. They wouldn't let me drive so I had to call Hank to come get me. I think I panicked poor Hank a little but when he got in the ambulance and saw my look of pure embarrassment he had to laugh, he said my face was priceless.
Long story short, they let me sign a waiver saying I didn't want a ride to the hospital but made me go to my doctor who checked me out and sent me for blood work. Apparently even though I am not having as much pregnancy sickness I need to keep orange juice in my purse and avoid the bank on 4th street at all costs. I think it will be awhile before I go back I am slightly embarrassed or traumatized, take your pick!

Mommy Time!

With all the excitement of posting about my Utah trip and weekend in Magrath I neglected to post about my parents first visit! My dad has been to Calgary before but never stayed for more then 24 hours (wierd I know, but he is a busy man)!
My parents came back with us from Utah and stayed for 5 days. If you know my mom she is very hard to get to travel anywhere besides St. George Utah, she doesn't do well on flights and she likes her routine and life at home. So to my pleasant SUPRISE she fell IN LOVE WITH CALGARY!!!!! I loved seeing how much she loved the city, our house and everything about where we live. In fact she loved it so much she didn't want to leave and changed her flight to stay one extra day.
It was so fun having my parents actually see where we live and work and spend our days after talking about it for so long. I brought my mom along to all my classes I taught and it was so fun to have her support to cheer me on!
We would wake up every morning and go for walks just the three of us (Hank had to work) then when I had to go to work the parents would take off with their map (my dad would not go anywhere and i mean anywhere without the map) on a biking adventure, when I returned home they would tell me all about it. We had a blast!
THE BEST NEWS OF ALL IS THAT MY MOMMY IS COMING BACK NEXT MONTH. SHE LOVED IT SO MUCH SHE IS TRAVELING AGAIN TO COME SEE ME. I could not be more excited to get much needed mommy time!
(Sorry no pictures we were too busy partying)

MAGRATH DAYS

This past weekend our wonderful friends Mike and Amy Balderson invited us to Magrath Days. Mike's entire family is from this amazing small town in southern Alberta. We had so much fun being invited to all the events and being apart of the Magrath Days. We just acted like we were part of the family and I think people were wondering who in the heck we were. However, everyone was so nice and so welcoming and we had the best time. AND THE BEST PART OF ALL is we got to play with our favorite couple Esther and Russ who have been away at BYU Idaho since Christmas. We miss them so much and it was so fun to catch up.

Between the fireworks, Beef on a bun, Bridge Jumping, Concerts, and hanging out with good friends we couldn't have asked for a better weekend. Thanks Baldersons and Beazers!
